Grace After the Storm: Permission to Pause and Embrace Mental Health and Self-Care
Monday, November 18, 2024 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EST)
Description
In the wake of a traumatic event or cumulative stressors, it's common for people to experience a range of emotional and physical reactions. These responses may appear immediately or emerge over time, lasting days, weeks, or even longer. While these are normal reactions to an abnormal situation, they can feel unsettling and disruptive. This virtual conversation will focus on understanding these reactions and how to support recovery—both for yourself, for your employees and for the community members you serve. Drawing on five key areas—emotional awareness, physical health, cognitive grounding, social connection, and self-compassion—we’ll explore practical approaches to self-care and ways to extend supportive practices to others. You’ll leave this session with tools to help normalize and manage trauma responses, build resilience, and foster a compassionate environment that encourages healing. Join us to learn, connect, and empower both yourself and those around you on the journey to recovery. This event is FREE as a way to support the park and recreation profession during this truly difficult season. Thank you to Lori Hoffner for donating your time and talent.
