Athletic Coordinator
The Washington County Recreation Department is seeking an energetic, organized, and motivated individual to serve as an Athletic Coordinator. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing youth and adult athletic programs while helping provide a positive recreational experience for the citizens of Washington County.
Position Summary
The Athletic Coordinator will coordinate and supervise athletic leagues, tournaments, special events, officials, coaches, and volunteers. This position also assists with facility scheduling, athletic field preparation, and daily operations of the Recreation Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and administer youth and adult athletic programs.
- Coordinate league schedules, practices, tournaments, and special events.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer coaches and game officials.
- Assist in scheduling and maintenance of athletic facilities.
- Prepare athletic fields and facilities for practices, games, and tournaments.
- Ensure programs operate in accordance with department policies and safety standards.
- Maintain records, registrations, rosters, and program reports.
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory of athletic equipment and supplies.
- Respond professionally to participants, parents, coaches, and the public.
- Assist with marketing and promoting recreation programs through social media and community outreach.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Experience in recreation programming, athletics, event management, or facility operations is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise staff, volunteers, and officials.
- Knowledge of youth and adult sports programs.
- Valid Georgia Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tournament operations.
- Experience preparing and maintaining athletic fields.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience using recreation management software and Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, operating athletic equipment, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
