Under the supervision of the City Manager and/or his designee, a person in this position is responsible for the administration of the City recreational activities, grounds and facilities. Weekend and evening assignments are to be expected.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Directs the administration of all departmental programs, operations, and

facilities

• Directs the creation, planning and implementation of a comprehensive

program of leisure services. This may include athletic leagues, instructional

programs, day camps, and other programs recommended by the City

Manager. Programs should be for all ages.

• Participates in the development of short-and long-range plans for the

department, including coordination of formulation and implementation of

a comprehensive recreation master plan for the City.

• Promotes departmental programs by making presentations to groups and

maintaining communication with the public information officer.

• Participates in the development of departmental policies and procedures;

implements policies and procedures approved by City Commission.

• Prepares the annual departmental budget; monitors expenditures under

the existing budget.

• Hires, trains, evaluates, and counsels department staff.

• Attends meetings of City Commission when requested.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a

baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to occupational field. * Three to five years’

experience * Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of

residence for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
