Deputy Director
DUTIES: This is a highly responsible role assisting with the management of the City of Snellville’s park
operations and maintenance. This role also plans, organizes, and manages the operations and programs of all City
parks; supervises staff directly and through subordinates; and performs related duties as required. Duties include
serving as liaison with the community for special events and representing the Department before various boards,
clubs, organizations as needed. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Parks &
Recreation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Management or related
field from an accredited college or university. Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in progressively responsible
supervisory positions in recreation and parks management. Any equivalent combination of education and
experience may be acceptable. Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR preferred and required to be
completed within 6 months of hiring. Professional certification through the Georgia Recreation and Parks
Association and/or National Recreation & Parks Association preferred.

work experience, a criminal background check, financial background check, a motor vehicle history check and
successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment drug screening
