Description

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs, including painting, pressure washing, graffiti and litter removal, and basic carpentry.
  • Provides access and assistance to contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Maintains supply inventory and orders restocks when necessary.
  • Inspects and maintains park grounds and facilities, including restrooms, fields, courts, playgrounds, trails, and pavilions.
  • Plants, waters, and cares for landscaping, including turf, trees, and shrubs.
  • Prepares fields and courts for use by lining, sweeping, dragging, and setting up equipment.
  • Assists with storm cleanup and emergency response efforts.
  • Services equipment through cleaning, fueling, and routine maintenance.
  • Operates a variety of equipment, including trucks, tractors, ATV, tiller, chain saw, power tools, turf broom, power tools, chemical sprayers, and sports field drag.
  • Installs and assembles park amenities such as benches, tables, playgrounds, and goals.
  • Supports event setup, teardown, and cleanup for city programs and special events.
  • Identifies and addresses potential hazards, including wildlife, debris, and invasive plants.
  • Complies with all city and departmental policies and procedures
  • Complies with City, State, and Federal safety procedures and protocols in the performance of job duties to include reporting all accidents, incidents, and injuries witnessed or incurred. Ensures equipment and property safety, as well as routine inspection of equipment.
  • Provides support for special events and city related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain dog waste stations located outside the city parks and trails.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 3 years of experience
  • Valid GA Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
  • Maintenance background is preferred.
  • Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • High situational awareness (cars parked on road, sounds, warning lights, environment, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to follow proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to navigate different routes throughout the city.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
  • Read and use technical instructions, procedures, manuals, and charts to solve practical problems.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and in different situations; shows understanding, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness.
