This position performs specialized duties in the implementation of assigned recreation programs. Organizes and administers recreation programs and adult and youth camp programs. Conducts player drafts; recruits, selects, trains and supervises coaches; coordinates parent meetings. Assists in office operations. Registers participants for youth and adult programs. Trains and recruits part-time and volunteer personnel. Maintains program records. Makes recommendations for the purchase of recreational equipment. Assists in equipment inventory and maintenance. Maintains scoreboards, basketball goals and other equipment. Meets with civic and community groups to encourage program participation. Performs related duties. The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and distinguishes between shades of color. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, noise and machinery with moving parts. Knowledge of recreation program administration and scheduling. Knowledge of recreation rules and regulations. Skill in training and supervision of personnel. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in oral and written communication.
