2026 Annual Conference Off-Site-Bear Hollow Zoo Tour

Description

Join us for a guided educational tour of Bear Hollow Zoo in Athens. This wildlife sanctuary is home to over 100 non-releasable native Georgia animals that have been orphaned or injured and now receive lifelong care in a safe, natural setting. Participants will explore exhibits while learning about conservation, animal care, and the role of parks and recreation in wildlife education. The tour highlights wildlife conservation, habitat preservation, and environmental stewardship while providing an engaging outdoor learning experience. 

Program Objectives 

1. Increase participant knowledge of Georgia’s native wildlife and conservation efforts. 

2. Promote environmental education through exposure to animal care, habitats, and sanctuary operations. 

3. Encourage appreciation for wildlife-focused outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship.
